How consent works for a check

Updated 26 October 20262 minute read

On New check you choose whether to ask the person for consent. Asking is optional. If you don't ask, we don't contact the person.

What the person gets

When you send a check with consent switched on, we email the person a link. The page it opens says:

  • which organisation is asking, and the reason you chose
  • that Loomis reads only what is publicly visible, and never asks for a password
  • which sources the check reads
  • the date the link stops working.

Any profile links you added are listed, and the person says whether each one is theirs. They can also add profiles of their own. Then they choose I consent or I don't consent.

Following it on the check's page

Open the check from Checks. The Consent card shows each step as it happens: invitation sent, opened, and the answer. While the request is open, the page shows the date the link works until. Nothing is searched until the person agrees.

If they change their mind

The person can withdraw consent later with the same link. The check stops and nothing more is searched. You see Consent withdrawn on the check's page.

If they say no or don't answer, see When a candidate doesn't give consent. For how Loomis handles personal information, see Privacy.
