Many people share a name. When a search finds public profiles that could be the person, the check pauses at Confirm profiles until someone says which are really them. Only the profiles you include go into the report.
Where to find it
Checks waiting on you are listed under Identity review, and the check's status reads Confirm profiles. Admins can confirm profiles on any check. Requesters confirm profiles on the checks they sent. Reviewers don't see identity review.
Why a profile was matched
Each profile card says what fits and what doesn't, compared with what you entered: the name, employer, place, or school or university.
Some profiles are already included and need nothing from you. The card says why:
- it is a profile you supplied, or another address for it on the same site under the same username
- it shows an email address you supplied
- the person confirmed it is theirs, or added it, when they gave consent.
Why a profile is waiting for you
- Uses a username on a different site. A username counts as a match only on the site where that profile was given to us. On any other site it could be someone else.
- The person says this is not theirs. You supplied it and the person said no. It's your call whether to include it.
- Only the surname matches, or the details partly conflict.
Confirming
Mark each profile Include or Not them, then choose Confirm and continue. The check carries on with the profiles you included.
If none of them are the person, choose None of these are, followed by their first name. Before you confirm, the page tells you what happens next: the check either carries on with name searches only, and the report says so, or it ends and goes back to your plan. This can't be undone.
