What a footprint search shows

Updated 26 October 20262 minute read

A footprint search shows what a stranger finds when they look up your name and the usernames you use.

Start with your name and usernames

Type your full name, then add the usernames you go by. Most accounts are found by username, so a name on its own finds less. Loomis suggests usernames based on your name, and you can keep or remove each one. The region beside your name leans the search toward one country.

Answer each result

Each platform shows its closest match with a confidence label. You answer with one of three buttons:

  • That's me marks the profile as yours.
  • Not me sets that profile aside and shows the next possible match.
  • I'm not on this platform answers for the whole platform at once.

You can change an answer from a deep footprint later on Footprint. Profiles you mark as someone else's stay out of your results, and Loomis says nothing more about them.

Free search and deep footprint

A free search reads public profiles only, and nothing from it is saved.

A deep footprint reads every platform on Loomis's list for each username you give it. Its result stays on your account under Scan history, with the date it's kept until. It shows what was public on the day it ran and isn't run again on its own. Deep footprints come with a plan or as one-off runs. See Pricing.

What you see afterwards

Footprint has three tabs. Profiles groups what was found into yours, might be you, and someone else with your name. Mentions lists places your name came up on the web, for you to count or leave out. Scan history lists every deep footprint you've run.

To have Loomis keep reading your accounts, see How your check-ins work.
