What the free findability check does

Updated 26 October 20262 minute read

The findability check shows whether people, search engines and AI assistants can find your business. Anyone can run it for free on the findability check page, with no account or sign-up.

What it reads

It looks only at public pages and public profiles:

  • The files that tell search engines what to read (robots.txt and your sitemap), your home page and the pages your menu links to.
  • Google, for which of your pages are already indexed.
  • AI assistants, asked the kind of question your buyers would ask.
  • Your GitHub and YouTube profiles, to see whether they link back to your site.
  • Reddit, YouTube and X, for how much is posted in your space.

Where a platform has no public source, the report says so. A page Loomis couldn't read is listed as unread.

What the report shows

Each finding names the page or file it came from. The report covers what each page tells a search engine, what AI assistants say, whether a page answers each buyer question, and where people in your space post.

It ends with what to fix first, ranked by how much each one keeps buyers from finding your site. The first fixes are spelled out in full, and the rest are listed by title.

The free check and your workspace

The free check asks AI assistants a fixed set of questions. If anyone has checked the same site in the last day, you see that result.

In Loomis Social, the Findability page runs the check for your own site, and you can add one question of your own for the assistants to ask. Running it there needs the manage settings permission. Use Check again to run it fresh.
