Family plan safety alerts and who sees them

Updated 26 October 20262 minute read

On the Family plan, Loomis reads the accounts a supervised child has connected and raises a flag when something happens to them online. Safety checks and flags cover children's accounts only.

What can raise a flag

Every flag is about something that happens to your child.

  • Grooming-pattern contact
  • Sexualised contact or sextortion
  • Images shared without consent
  • Self-harm or eating-disorder content
  • Being bullied
  • Harmful content exposure

Each flag is graded Some concern, Serious or Very serious. The grade describes the content Loomis found.

When you're told straight away

A Serious or Very serious flag alerts you the moment it's found. Loomis sends an email and shows a banner on your Personal pages. The email only says that something needs you today. It names no child, platform or kind of flag, because inboxes and phone screens get read over shoulders. You sign in to see what it is.

The protection level you chose for your child decides which grades reach you for each kind of flag. A Very serious flag reaches you at every level.

Who gets the alert

  • You, as the household owner.
  • Any co-guardian you've added.
  • Any alert-only contact you add on Oversight. They get the alert email and can't see the household.

What your child sees

Your child's My view shows exactly what you can and can't see. When you open what caused a flag, it's written in their reveal log (a record of what you opened), which neither of you can delete.

When a child turns the age at which supervision ends, their flags stop being readable by you, and you both get a notice.
